Leo Dalla
Founder Big Brother’s Affiliation North America
Master Dalla has dedicated his life to teaching martial arts and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. In 2002 Master Dalla moved from Brazil and began teaching in the greater Washington, D.C. area. He teaches personally at his schools in Ballston and Woodbridge, VA every night and also instructs on a periodic basis at schools throughout Northern Virginia that are part of the BIG BROTHERS network run by a number of Master Dalla’s black belts.


Leo Dalla

Master Dalla has dedicated his life to teaching martial arts and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. In 2002 Master Dalla moved from Brazil and began teaching in the greater Washington, D.C. area. Scott Salb
Head Instructor
Scott first stepped on the mat in 1988 at the UCONN Judo club under the tutelage of Dr Andrew Yiannakis. After several years of training, he was awarded his first black belt. His passion for judo brought him to Japan where he continued his training. Upon returning home he moved to DC where he was later introduced to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and started training under the world-famous Leo Dalla. In 2013 he was awarded his second black belt, this time in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

Scott Salb
Head Instructor

Alexandre Carvalho

Hi everyone, My name is Alexandre Carvalho AKA “Alexandre Baby”, and I’m excited to be coaching at Centreville BJJ. I began training BJJ in 1997 in Rio De Janeiro Brazil, and I currently hold a 5th-degree black belt. I started teaching Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Rio de Janeiro Brazil helping my instructor in some group and private classes in my hometown Rio de Janeiro, Brazil ,where I developed a deep passion for coaching and helping others grow through the art. I’m Co-Founder of Rocinha Jiu Jitsu Program that provides Jiu Jitsu for Kids and Adults in Rocinha where I was the Head Coach of the Kids Program. In 2009 I was invited to Teach BJJ on United Arab Emirates, where I worked until 2023. During that time, I coached at UAE National Schools (Under the Government) and to the Military. From 2023 to 2025, I continued coaching in Canada at Frontline Academy (one of the best Academies in Alberta), further expanding my experience with students and competitors at all levels and ages. Now, I’m proud to begin this new chapter teaching at Centreville Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. My goal is on helping you build strong fundamentals, sharpen your technique, improve your Jiu Jitsu, keep a safe, structured, and motivating training environment where everyone regardless of experience can grow and reach their potential. Alexandre Carvalho

Brian Silman
Fundamentals Instructor
Brian began training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in May 2013 under fellow Big Brother black belt Doug Esposito and was awarded his purple belt in June 2018. He became a part of Centreville BJJ in January 2024 and has been coaching the fundamental class since. Brian is passionate about BJJ and enjoys introducing new members to the art and its history. In his spare time he loves to spend time with his wife and two children.
